| Front End Checker General Description : The checker is responsible for the processing of customer’s order in a professional accurate and timely manner. He/she is required to perform correct system entry procedures, proper acceptance of various forms of tender in accordance with company policies and state and federal regulations. The customer relations responsibilities of this position require the Checker to respond to the customer as their number one priority at all times, attending to their needs and requests in a courteous and assertively friendly manner. The Checker is responsible for the completion of various assigned tasks under the direction of his/her supervisors. Qualifications: · Current food handler’s card. · 18 years of age or older. · Checker training school or minimum of one year supermarket checking experience preferred. · Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, (depending on business needs), including weekends, days, or evenings. · Good customer relations skills, with outgoing, friendly personality and a desire to serve the public. · Neat, clean, and professional business-like appearance. · Good work record/references especially with respect to honesty and dependability. · Must be able to perform essential functions, with reasonable accommodation if needed. · Attend company orientation meeting. · Ability to lift 50 lbs. occasionally. · Consistent standing, stooping, bending, and lifting. · Constant arm, hand and wrist motion. Essential Functions: · Adheres to superior customer service standards at all times. · Greets each customer in the department or sales floor, using names whenever possible; extends thanks to each customer upon completion of the order/purchase. · Enters all items according to proper system entry procedures, including accurate produce identification and use of PLU codes or keys. · Handles all form of tender with accuracy in accordance with all company policy and state and federal regulations. · Examines various forms of identification in accordance with company policy and state and federal regulations. · Maintains a balanced till in accordance with company guidelines. · Checks at an acceptable rate of speed with accuracy in accordance with company standards. · Keeps cash register, check stands and other areas within his/her responsibility secure; complies with store security measures as requested. · Maintains friendly and respectful decorum at all times toward customers, co-workers, vendors and all others. · Handles, in a positive manner, those inherent levels of stress associated with employment situations. Other Employment Responsibilities: · Complies with laws/regulations and company policies including those regarding confidentiality, honesty, and business ethics. · Maintains responsive and cooperative relationship with supervisors, co-workers, vendors, customers and other personnel. · Accomplishes assigned tasks in an efficient and timely manner within standards established by supervisor. · Participates in training and professional development. · Demonstrates the “Please the customer first” credo. · Other related duties as assigned. · Maintain check stands, front-end and other areas as directed.
