| Deli Clerk
General Description:
Customer service and salesmanship are the primary duties of the Deli Clerk. Customer needs and requests are to be attended to in a courteous and assertively friendly manner. The Deli Clerk is expected to use good salesmanship techniques in promoting the department's products. He/she is responsible for the preparation and selling of products, proper display, rotation, sanitary handling of the product, overall cleanliness in the department and the completion of various assigned tasks under the direction of his/her supervisors. Qualifications: · Current Food Handler Card. · Experience in the food service industry preferred. · Outgoing personality with a sincere desire to serve the public and superior customer relations skills. · Ability and willingness to work a variety of shifts and days of the week/weekends. · Neat, clean businesslike appearance. · Ability to work quickly, independently and with limited supervision. · Ability to perform essential functions, with reasonable accommodation if needed. · Ability to work in coordination and cooperation with supervisors, co-workers, vendors and other business associates. · Knowledge of cooking helpful. · Interested in experimenting with foods and enjoy cooking. · Consistent standing, bending, stooping, lifting up to 50 lbs. · Ability to work a variety of shifts including afternoons, evenings and weekends. Essential Functions: · Prepares deli items according to set recipes. · Slices meats/cheese, and keeps cases full. · Displays and rotates product, keeps food cases fresh and clean. · Maintains inventory control, proper sanitation and cleanliness of the department. · Greets customers in the department, by name when possible; assists with needs and requests; extends thanks to each customer when service is completed. · Uses good salesmanship techniques to promote purchases. · Completes assigned tasks in an efficient and timely manner in accordance with company standards. · Maintains friendly and respectful decorum at all times toward customers, co-workers, vendors and all others. · Handles, in a positive manner, those inherent levels of stress associated with employment situations.
