Maintenance

 

General Description:

Under the direction of the Store Manager or Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Worker is responsible for store maintenance as assigned including sanitation, store and department cleanliness and floor maintenance.  It is the Maintenance Worker's role to ensure that the store and its departments are clean and in good order by performing assigned tasks in a timely, proper manner.

 

Qualifications:

·        Current Food Handler Card.

·        Ability and willingness to work a varied and flexible schedule, especially nights and weekends.

·        One year previous custodial experience preferred.

·        Ability to work independently, a self-motivated worker.

·        Experience preferred in working with cleaning equipment such as floor polisher, compressors, refrigeration units, etc.

·        Able to continually stand, bend, stoop and reach.

·        Must be able to lift or otherwise move 50+ lbs. and perform some duties from approx. 6 feet above ground (via ladder or other apparatus).

·        Good work record/references, especially regarding honesty and dependability.

·        Ability to perform essential functions, with reasonable accommodation if needed.

 

Essential Functions:

·        Maintains cleanliness, sanitation and maintenance in departments such as meat, produce, deli/bakery and bulk foods.

·        Keeps stores clean, sanitary and in good appearance and repair.

·        May clean the refrigeration display cases, meat preparation room, restrooms, lunchroom, and compressors; may mop, clean and wax floors.

·        Accomplishes assigned tasks in an efficient and timely manner.

·        General cleaning throughout the store and grounds.

·        Maintains friendly and respectful decorum at all times toward customers, co-workers, vendors and all others.

·        Handles, in a positive manner, those inherent levels of stress associated with employment situations.

 

Other Employment Responsibilities:

·        Complies with laws/regulations and company policies including those regarding confidentiality, honesty and business ethics.

·        May perform minor repairs, construction tasks and preventative maintenance activities.

·        Maintains responsive and cooperative relationships with supervisors, co-workers, vendors, customers and other personnel.

·        Accomplishes assigned tasks in an efficient and timely manner within standards established by supervisor.

·        Demonstrates the "Please the customer first" credo.

·        Other related duties as assigned.
