Meat Wrapper

The job of the Meat Wrapper is to wrap all food products which are handled in the meat department in a neat and appealing manner and to serve the customers, under the supervision of the Meat Department Manager.

Essential Functions:

·        Greets each customer by name whenever possible; assists them with their needs or requests, whether verbalized or observed; extends thank when service is complete.

·        Wraps fresh and smoked meats, fish, and poultry in a neat and timely manner; weighs each unit and applies the correct amount of tare weight and price to each item; affixes all necessary labels.

·        Stocks meat cases; restocks and re-wraps as needed (usually each third day).

·        Meet production goals of meat department.

·        Posts signs for ad items and in-store promotions.

·        Maintains proper sanitation, maintenance, security within the department; keep equipment clean and in proper working order.

·        Must be able to lift or otherwise move up to 50 lbs.

·        Maintains friendly and respectful decorum at all times toward customers, co-workers, vendors, and all others.

·        Handles, in a positive manner, those inherent levels of stress associated with employment situations.

Other Employment Responsibilities:

·        Complies with laws/regulations and company policies including those regarding confidentiality, honesty and business ethics.

·        Maintains responsive and cooperative relationships with supervisors, co-workers, vendors, customers, and other personnel.

·        Accomplishes assigned tasks in an efficient and timely manner within standards established by supervisor.

·        Demonstrates the "Please the customer first" credo.

·        Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

·        Current Food Handler Card.

·        1-2 years previous meat wrapping experience preferred.

·        Broad knowledge of meat cuts and meat products preferred.

·        Ability to consistently stand, bend, stoop, lift.

·        Has the ability to perform essential functions, with reasonable accommodation if needed.

·        Willingness and ability to work a varied and flexible schedule, including days, evenings, and weekends.

·        Possesses efficient, organized work habits.

·        Shows positive enthusiasm towards co-workers by a demonstrated willingness to assist, listen to, and share information with others.

·        Displays a sincere desire to serve customers by projecting a positive, professional image, is aware of and anticipates customer needs and enjoys working with the public.

·        Has the ability to work independently and is a highly motivated self-starter.
