Pharmacy Manager

 

General Description:            

The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for sales, profitability and appearance of the Pharmacy Department.  He/she performs the duties of a licensed pharmacist; supervises other pharmacists, technicians or clerks in the department; ensures the safety and security of merchandise; ensures rigid adherence to all laws and regulations governing the sale of pharmaceuticals and; merchandises the department to provide a variety of products at a fair price in a clean, friendly atmosphere.

 

Essential Functions:

·        Performs all duties of a licensed pharmacist; takes prescriptions, prepares and dispenses drugs, counsels’ customers on pharmaceutical matters.

·        Greets each customer using names whenever possible; assists customers with their needs or requests; extends thanks when service is complete.

·        Fills prescriptions according to physician’s orders; maintains records according to laws and store standards.

·        Supervises other pharmacists and pharmacy technicians and clerks; identifies training needs and advises store manager; ensures positive employee relations and equal opportunity.

·        Oversees merchandising of the department; orders product; controls inventory, displays and promotions; checks billings for proper pricing and credits.

·        Ensures safety and security in the department; oversees maintenance and cleanliness.

·        Develops and implements the department budget and business plan; responsible for profitability of the department.

·        Maintains friendly and respectful decorum at all times toward customers, co-workers, vendors and all others.

·        Handles, in a positive manner, those inherent levels of stress associated with employment situations.

 

Other Responsibilities:

·        Complies with laws/regulations and company policies including those regarding confidentiality, honesty and business ethics.

·        Maintains responsive and cooperative relationships with supervisors, co-workers, vendors, customers and other personnel.

·        Accomplishes assigned tasks in an efficient and timely manner within standards established by supervisor.

·        Participates in own training and professional development.

·        Demonstrates the "Please the customer first" credo in spirit and in executing duties.

·        Other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

·        Must be a licensed Pharmacist in the State of Washington.

·        Minimum 4 years experience in retail pharmacy as a staff pharmacist is required and an additional 1 year as a pharmacy manager is preferred.

·        Experience in the supervision pharmacist and technician staff.

·        Experience with retail profit management.

·        Good product knowledge (including variety, buying, pricing, merchandising, etc.).

·        This position is required to handle Protected Health Information (PHI) and is therefore required to adhere to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the information security guidelines outlined in the company’s HIPAA Security Rules policies.

·        Willing to adhere to and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

·        Able to perform duties according to professional standards, state/federal legal requirements and established procedures of quality assurance within the department.

·        Willing to work a flexible schedule when needed, including evenings and weekends if necessary.

·        Excellent work record/references, especially in respect to honesty, high business ethics and confidentiality.

·        Ability to perform essential functions with reasonable accommodation if needed.

·        Spanish language skills a plus.
