Account Payable Clerk
General Description:
The Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for entering and balancing miscellaneous payable information into the computerized accounting system. This position requires knowledge of general accounting theory, a high degree of accuracy, high degree of problem solving and decision making skills, and the ability to work both independently and with a team.
Essential Functions:
· Data-enters miscellaneous accounts payable work.
· Audits and imports electronic invoice files.
· Codes and enters accounts payable/non-resale purchases and statements.
· Reconciles statements.
· Generates computerized checks & manual checks.
· Releases invoices for payment & prepares checks for mailing.
· Researches accounts, filing, and other work projects as assigned.
· Maintains friendly and respectful decorum at all times toward customers, co-workers, vendors, and all others.
· Handles, in a positive manner, those inherent levels of stress associated with employment situations.
Other Responsibilities:
· Complies with laws/regulations and company policies including those regarding confidentiality, honesty, and business ethics.
· Maintains responsive and cooperative relationships with supervisors, co-workers, vendors, customers, and other personnel.
· Accomplishes assigned tasks in an efficient and timely manner within standards established by supervisor.

Qualifications:
· Proficient in MS Word & Excel required. Lotus experience preferred.
· Previous experience using accounting software required. Experience using Lawson accounting software desirable.
· Two years accounting/bookkeeping experience required.
· One year data entry experience required.
· 10-key calculator by touch required.
· Works well in a high volume, fast paced business environment with deadlines.
· Ability to handle multiple tasks & work well under pressure.
· Strong organizational skills required.
· Enjoys working as part of a team.
· Great communication skills.
· Possesses efficient, accurate, organized work habits and skills.
· Good work record/references, especially with respect to honesty, confidentiality, and dependability.
· Ability to perform essential functions with reasonable accommodation, if needed.
