| ServiceCenter and DOL Clerk General Description: The Licensing & Service Counter Clerk is primarily responsible for all activities in the Licensing and ServiceCenter that include the sale of WashingtonState vehicle and vessel licenses, lottery tickets, money orders, gift certificates, and postage stamps. Customer needs and requests for product returns and refunds are to be attended to at the Licensing & ServiceCenter in a prompt, courteous and assertively helpful manner. The Licensing & Service Center Clerk is expected to use good salesmanship techniques in promoting the department's products and offering customers a high level of service. Some backup bookkeeping activities may also be required by counting tills or making calls to customers on NSF check collection. Essential Functions:
- Greet each customer, using names whenever possible; assists customers with their needs or requests, whether verbalized or observed; extends thanks when service is complete.
- Have a full understanding of department services and products in order to serve the customer and to promote department activities.
- Complete all mandatory recordkeeping procedures in a timely and highly accurate fashion as required by the State and other licensing agencies.
- Maintain the department in a neat, orderly fashion and adheres to accuracy and organizational standards of the department.
- Maintains friendly and respectful decorum at all times toward customers, co-workers, vendors, and all others.
- Handles, in a positive manner, those inherent levels of stress associated with employment situations.
- Handle customer returns and refunds in a courteous and helpful manner.
- Offer services on a variety of products such as WashingtonState vehicle and vessel licenses, lottery tickets, money orders, Western Union transactions, gift certificates, postage stamps, and others as assigned.

Qualifications: - Current Food Handler Card
- Outgoing personality with a sincere desire to serve the public. Strong customer relations skills are required.
- Use of ten key calculator and customized computer programs are required.
- Cash and customer check handling experience with a high degree of accuracy to ensure a balanced till and proper reconciliation of records.
- Reliable transportation, ability and willingness to travel to various store locations throughout WhatcomCounty.
- Ability to work a varied, flexible schedule including some early evenings and weekends.
- Ability to perform essential functions, with reasonable accommodation if needed.
- Neat, professional and clean business-like appearance and conduct is required.
- Good work record and references.
