| POSITION TITLE: | Information Services Intern | | DATES: | Mid July 2007 – Mid October 2007 | | SHIFTS/HOURS: | 32 - 40 hours per week.
Work schedule will be mutually agreed upon between the hours of 7am – 5pm, Monday – Friday. | | LOCATION: | Brown & Cole Stores, LLC Store Support Center 1331 Commercial St., Bellingham, WA. 98227-9797 |
POSITION SUMMARY: Position supports the Information Services Department in regular activities and special projects related to programming, database management, & technical support. This is a paid learning experience internship that is designed to provide the intern with a broad perspective on a variety of functions in a typical Information Services Department. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Monitor ETL processes. Investigating, correcting and re-executing failed tasks as necessary.
- Maintaining multiple custom built business applications. This may include enhancing as company needs dictate and reverse engineering in order to determine/correct behavior.
- Administration of MS SQL 2000 servers.
- Fulfilling ad-hoc requests for data.
- Analyzing financial reporting needs and assisting with solutions.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: - Maintains friendly and respectful decorum at all times toward customers, co-workers, vendors, and all others.
- Complies with laws/regulations and company policies including those regarding confidentiality, honesty, and business ethics.
- Maintains responsive and cooperative relationships with supervisors, co-workers, vendors, customers, and other personnel.
- Accomplishes assigned tasks or projects in an efficient, accurate, and timely manner within standards established by supervisor.
- Participates in own training and professional development.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED: - Completed basic college coursework in Computer Science or MIS and Accounting or Business.
- Junior or Senior standing for current academic year.
- Desire to explore career opportunities in the IT field.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Extremely high level of confidentiality, responsibility, and honesty.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Experience with SQL, RDMS (focus on MSSQL), ASP, HTML, VBScript, Javascript, IIS, MS O/S (including NT4, Server 2000+, XP, WinXs), MSOffice
