Hispanic and Ethnic Foods Category Manager
General Description:
Under the direction of the Marketing Manager the Hispanic and Ethic Category Manager is primarily responsible for determining the item selection, product mix, pricing, promotion, merchandising, and advertising of Hispanic and Ethnic products based on category goals and the competitive environment.

Essential Function
  • Authorize new items, coordinate the discontinuation of items within assigned categories
  • Coordinate and manage corporate buy & hold program for assigned categories
  • Write monthly merchandising plan and follow up with stores to evaluate each plan’s effectiveness
  • Maintain seasonal salient merchandising plan
  • Write weekly ads for items in assigned categories
  • Maintain ongoing communication with store management and corporate personnel regarding all phases of product categories
  •  Arrange and coordinate special promotional activity as assigned by the Marketing Manager
  • Represent company to vendors, suppliers, and at various industry function
  • Provide input to section set person on item placement for assigned categories
  • Maintain an awareness of competitor's activity within our marketing area for items in assigned product categories
  • Achieve desired budgets for ad loss, co-op dollars, and promotional activity
  • Responsible for sales, turns, and gross profit in assigned categories
  • Follow through on collection of all bill back, co-op, and M.R.I. money generated by assigned categories
     
    Qualifications:
  •  Strong merchandising and analytical skills are required.  Applicants should be familiar with standard software suites from MS Word and Excel.
  • Ability to develop specialty merchandising programs in key ethnic or dietary food areas, to include; merchandising, assortment and retail pricing management of said programs
  • 3-5 years experience as Store Manager or other high level management position
  • Minimum 7-10 years retail experience or 2 years at Asst. Store Manager level
  • Willingness and ability to travel occasionally
  • Product knowledge, including mix, buying and pricing
  • Passion and interest in food and cooking strongly preferred
  • A willingness to be accountable for results
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in managing in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to work cooperatively with store management and other operational/procurement specialists
  • Ability to perform essential functions, with reasonable accommodation if needed.
  • Fluency in Spanish (verbal and written) a plus
