Human Resource Manager

General Description:
Under the direction of the COO, the Human Resources Manager is responsible for human resource activities in the areas of planning, staffing, training and development, wage and salary administration, employee relations, communications, work environment, union relations, and record keeping.

Essential Functions:
 
  • Ensures the quality and diversity of the pre-hire applicant recruiting, screening, and interviewing processes for the company.
  • Sources leadership talent ensuring diversity.
  • Manages the compensation structure and provides guidance on market influences affecting wage rates.
  • Coordinates union contract negotiations, provides guidance on employment relations matters as needed.
  • Responsible for Human Resources Department budget development and administration; approves all expenditures relating to area of responsibility;
  • Develop and facilitate in-house employee training and seminars.
  • Administers and conducts periodic reviews of job descriptions, employee guidebook, employee benefits book, union contracts, company policies and procedures manual, and hazardous chemical communication book;
  • Administers the employee performance evaluations and upward appraisal programs;  monitors results of completed evaluations;
  • Ensures compliance with and responses to governmental inquiries and regulations involving personnel matters;
  • Has supervisory and delegation authority over human resources staff;
  • May advise store leadership on employment matters; may assist managers and team members in counseling and/or problem resolution
  • Ensures compliance with laws, regulations, and company policies pertaining to union contracts, safety, health, employment, and other regulated matters;
  • Reviews and approves employee education disbursements;
  • Maintains friendly and respectful decorum at all times toward customers, co-workers, vendors and our communities.
  • Handles, in a positive manner, those inherent levels of stress associated with employment situations.

    Other Employment Responsibilities:

  • Complies with laws/regulations and company policies including those regarding confidentiality, honesty and integrity.
  • Maintains responsive and cooperative relationships with supervisors, co-workers, vendors, customers and other personnel.
  • Accomplishes assigned tasks in an efficient and timely manner within standards established by supervisor.
  • Participates in training and professional development.
  • Demonstrates the "Please the Customer First" credo in spirit and in executing duties.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years experience in the field of Human Resources.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in supervision, training and labor relations.
  • Experience in drafting budget proposals and tracking budget performance.
  • Excellent work record with demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff.
  • Ability to perform essential functions, with reasonable accommodation if needed.
