| Deli Lead General Description: Responsible for customer service in a courteous and assertively friendly manner, preparation and good salesmanship techniques in promoting the Department products, proper display, rotation, sanitary handling of the product, overall cleanliness in the department and the completion of various assigned tasks under the direction of his/her Store Manager and Food Service Manager. Ensures high standards of the department. Supervises Deli Department team members. Essential Functions: Serves as the department’s operational and technical trainer. Implements department operational goals and objectives; participates in the annual business planning and goal setting process. Controls inventory orders or supervises ordering of all of the departments merchandise, maintains ample amounts and variety of products for the department. Takes periodic inventory counts as pre-determined by company practices or the Store Manager. Monitors maintenance of equipment and takes action to repair. Ensures high standards in food handling and sanitation practices are utilized in the department. Prepares, groups and displays merchandise; maintains an appropriate variety of fresh, appealing products. Ensures appropriate execution of company merchandising and promotional plans. Ensures that correct pricing policies are in place; take action to correct if not. Displays and rotates product, keeps food cases fresh and clean. Maintains inventory control, proper sanitation and cleanliness of the department. Greets customers; assists with needs and requests; extends thanks to each customer when service is completed. Uses good salesmanship techniques to promote purchases. Completes assigned tasks in an efficient and timely manner in accordance with company standards. Maintains friendly and respectful decorum at all times towards customers, co-workers, vendors, and all others. Handles, in a positive manner, those inherent levels of stress associated with employment situations.
Other Employment Responsibilities: Complies with laws/regulations and company policies including those regarding confidentiality, honesty, and business ethics. Maintains responsive and cooperative relationships with supervisors, co-workers, vendors, customers, and other personnel. Accomplishes assigned tasks in an efficient and timely manner within standards established by supervisor. Demonstrates the “Please the customer first” credo in spirit and action. Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Current Food Handler Card. Previous management experience required. Experience in ordering and inventory control. Organizational, leadership and communication skills. A sincere desire to serve the public and superior customer relations skills. Ability and willingness to work a variety of shifts and days of the week/weekends. Neat, clean, businesslike appearance. Ability to work quickly, independently and with limited supervision. Ability to perform essential functions, with reasonable accommodation if needed. Ability to work in coordination and cooperation with supervisors, co-workers, vendors and other business associates. Consistent standing, bending, stooping, lifting up to 50lbs. Ability to perform regular wrist movement. Minimum age: 18
